Includes Birthday Portrait package plus cake-smash. Cake smash includes cake and decorations based on 2-3 colors of your choosing.

This is an on-location or in-studio session. We have backdrops, props, and all sorts of other creative ideas for your child’s perfect photo background. We photograph during the weekday Monday-Friday from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.

The child’s favorite toy, stuffed animal or blankie. We have a chalkboard prop that can be used to put their milestone moments on while they lay/sit/stand next to it. Some parents bring a “1/2 wooden sign” for children who are 6 months old. We have large number “1, 2, 3, 4, 5” that children can sit or stand next to. We also have the individual letters “o, n, and e” that they can hold and we can create a composite into 1 final image. Bring anything of importance that you would like photographed with your child. We are open to your ideas!
This is a fun way to celebrate the milestone of your baby’s first birthday. If you give a baby cake, it ends up all over him anyway. So why not have fun with it and capture your baby in all his messy glory! Cake smashing photography is a fun way to capture all of the excitement of birthday milestones!
Choose an outfit for cake smash photos that will not stain easily or one that you will not mind throwing away afterward since many icing colors stain clothing easily. Therefore, look for something cute but inexpensive. The simplest and easiest idea is to dress the baby in only her diaper! However, the photographers at Natalie Roberson Photography do recommend accessories, like headbands and necklaces for girls, or caps and suspenders for boys. Whatever you decide for your cake smash photography, dress your baby in colors that complement the colors of the birthday cake.
If possible, give your baby a cupcake with frosting at home a few days before your cake smash session. Some babies have never tasted super-sweet frosting or aren’t used to the idea of getting messy. A trial run in advance gives babies the chance to experience these things for the first time at home which can translate to a better experience on the day of the cake smash session. Bring a (dishwasher-safe/easy to clean) toy to the cake smash photo session if you think it will increase your baby’s interest in the cake!
